Koeye River Fish Weir: Weir in place

Amazing footage of the Fish Weir built with Qqs Project Society, on the Koeye River. Photos from Grant Callegari.

The weir is finished, in place, and does it not look absolutely spectacular? For the fish coming upriver, it is a bit like clearing customs at the airport. You have to enter a little stall, be subjected to a few harmless indignities (measuring, tagging, etc.), and you are sent on your way. Science, engineering, art, culture, history, traditional ecological knowledge, community engagement, all wrapped up seamlessly in this wonderful project.

It has been an honor to work with the Qqs Project Society, the Heiltsuk First Nation and everyone else associated with this project. So, what can we do next year to top this?
