GIS Strategy

Led by Ian Giesbrecht (Hakai Beach Institute), Wayne Jacob (Hakai Beach Institute), and John Ziemanski and colleagues at Coastal Resource Mapping.

Our goal is to have all pertinent information georeferenced, stored within a multiuser geodatabase, and cross referenced so that for example a terrestrial ecologist, a marine ecologist and a geomorphologist could easily display layers jointly to look for correlations between their respective domains. The solution, based on Esri’s ArcGIS for Server, is housed in the Amazon Elastic Cloud (EC2).
