Seagrass Meadows Connected to Kelp Forests Make Great Fish Nurseries - Hakai Institute

Seagrass Meadows Connected to Kelp Forests Make Great Fish Nurseries

Along temperate coastlines, seagrass meadows and kelp forests are both regarded as critical nursery habitats for fish. In a new publication in Ecological Applications, scientists from the Hakai Institute, University of Victoria, and Fisheries and Oceans Canada found that nursery grounds for fish can improve as a result of the connectivity between these two resource-rich habitats.
