Calvert Island Footprints Featured in American Archaeology Magazine
A return to the site where the oldest footprints in North America were found.
In April, archaeology journalist Tom Koppel joined Hakai Institute and University of Victoria archaeologists Duncan McLaren, Daryl Fedje, and their team as they returned to the site on Calvert Island where the oldest footprints in North America were found.
The 13,000-year-old footprints represent further evidence of a coastal migration route through the Americas. Their story is featured in the Fall 2016 issue of American Archaeology.
